WHILE HE AND HIS PIANO GENTLY WEEP

Nobuyuki Tsujii
I have written before about how music can express the heart where words fail. Below is a composition by the young blind Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii: It is called "Elegy for the Victims of the Tsunami of March 11th 2011 in Japan." The music expresses Tsujii's sorrow -- and he and his piano were weeping throughout the performance at Carnegie Hall in New York.

  1. This man is just amazing. I never heard of him, where have I BEEN?

What a beautiful act of God to put him in the world. Repeatedly people hearing him give credit to God for giving him such talent which has such sensitivity.

How we need beauty like this to keep us truly human, and to remember that we were created for communion with God and with each other. We are not robots. We are not to be stupid. We are not to be isolated and without relationship. We are to reflect the love and the brilliance of God's heart and design for the world.
