If we accept the principle that universal human rights are worth embracing, then all human life must be included within this ideal. That's what "universal" means. Human rights begin when human life begins and ends with life's natural conclusion. Anything else is either ignorance or sophistry and bigotry." -- Mark Davis Pickup

Mark and LaRee Pickup available to speak
The life experiences of LaRee and Mark Pickup have followed closely with the major Life issues of our time. As teenage lovers they found themselves confronted with an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy. They chose abortion for their baby. LaRee and Mark grieved that abortion for decades.
In 1984, Mark was diagnosed with degenerative multiple sclerosis.
Their journey through physical degeneration and serious disability has been the cause of profound trials and grief. Mark is triplegic (only his left arm is fully functional) and he is confined to an electric wheelchair. Other people in similar situations have opted for assisted suicide. LaRee and Mark have also dealt with end-of-life issues of parents, as well as diseases and care of extremely aged family members.
They have become committed to the cause of life and defence of the vulnerable. For more than a decade Mark has spoken across Canada and the United States promoting the sanctity, dignity and equality of all human life. He has addressed politicians and legislative committees (both Canadian and American), university forums, hospital medical staffs, religious and denominational leaders, community groups and organizations about the critical importance of protecting all human life from conception to natural death. Mark is also a widely published writer on bioethical and Christian issues.
LaRee is the provincial Director of the Alberta Pro-Life
Association (Canada). She is responsible for educational development and coordination of political presence for Life issues throughout the Canadian province of Alberta.
LaRee and Mark Pickup have developed a gripping presentation about their personal experiences spanning the full spectrum of Life issues. They are available to speak to your organization, group, or church. LaRee and Mark can also speak about their Christian perspective of suffering, grief and loss.
